K+D win the Lorenz Hart Award
Kooman and Dimond were honored as the first recipients of the
Lorenz Hart award by the ASCAP Foundation
on December 7th, 2011. The award comes with a cash prize and was selected by Stephen Schwartz, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
K+D At Goodpseed
Goodspeed Musicals
has invited Kooman and Dimond to their annual writers' cabaret in January 2012. They'll be taking part in Goodspeed's New Artists Cabaret on January 14th.

a new song by Kooman + Dimond to play over the credits of the short film FLOUR BABY.
FLOUR BABY Premieres
On Nov 9, 2011, FLOUR BABY, a short film by Christopher Dimond, premiered at the Steeltown Film Factory competition.
Christopher was awarded $30,000 to make the film from the competition earlier in 2011.
The film is slated to screen at the Napa Valley film festival, among other festivals.

DANI GIRL at NAMT
DANI GIRL was selected for the 2011
National Alliance for Musical Theatre's"
new works festival. On October 27th and 28th, a 45 minute selections was performed for the NAMT members by the amazing cast that included
Rozi Baker, Chris Hoch, River Alexander, and Kate Shindle.
An Evening with Stephen Schwartz
On Oct 3rd, 2011 Kooman and Dimond participated in a concert hosted by Stephen Schwartz at the Peter Norton Space on 42nd Street.
Jose Llana and Rachel Potter performed two K&D songs.
Also involved in the event were Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, as well as husband and wife writing team Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda.
Kimberly Lew wrote a
review of the evening.
Lecture on Musical Theatre
Michael Kooman has been invited to speak at the University of Colorado to the students studying musical theater.
He will make a presentation on the creating a new musical from a writer's perspective on Nov. 29th 2011.
K+D Masterclass
Kooman + Dimond held a masterclass with the talented students at
Rider University.
Congrats to all who participated and thanks to Marianne Cook for the invitation.

Dallas on August 12 and 19th.

Playwrights Horizons - NYC, NY - September 20, 2010
Kooman and Dimond had their music showcased on September 20th at
Playwrights Horizons as part of the culmination of their year studying with
Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty in the Dramatists Guild Fellowship program.
A slew of broadway talent performed their work, including Lisa Brescia,
Andrew Kober and John Tartaglia.
Homemade Fusion - London - August 12, 2010
Homemade Fusion was produced at the Ambassadors Theatre in London
by Christopher Clegg. The evening featured fellow CMU alumni Patina Miller, and Andrew Kober.

Guild Fellows program with Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens.
New Musical JUNIOR CLAUS makes Minneapolis Premiere
JUNIOR CLAUS,
a Christmas-themed family musical,
opened a three week run in Minneapolis, MN on December 10, 2009.
Helmed by Steve Barberio, JUNIOR CLAUS follows the story of Santa’s son, Junior,
as he rebels against the family business and Christmas altogether until he is
called upon to step into his father’s shoes.
Millikin workshop of GOLDEN GATE
Michael and Chris were invited back to
Millikin University in 2010
after the well-received workshop of DANI GIRL in January 2009.
They workshopped workshopping GOLDEN GATE, which premiered at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
Readings by the Millikin students will took place both on campus and at the Chicago
Center for the Performing Arts.
DANI GIRL at Penn State
DANI GIRL was selected to be part of Penn State’s New Musical Theater Festival.
Performances took place on December 12, 2009 at 2pm and 7pm at the Pavilion Theater. More information on the festival can be found here.
Golden Gate

Kennedy Center Concert

Kooman and Dimond return to the Kennedy Center to take part in a series of concerts titled “Next Generation of Musical Theater”. Come hear the best of the Kooman and Dimond songbook as performed by Natalie Weiss and Anderson Davis.
Tickets are free, and on a first-come first-serve basis.

Johnny Mercer Songwriting Workshop

Under the tutelage of Andrew Lippa, Craig Carnelia, and Lari White, Kooman and Dimond will take part in a week-long workshop celebrating the new American Songbook. Two new songs (“Lost in the Waves”, and “Mama, Give us Your Blessing”) will be featured in a concert with Heather Headley.

DANI GIRL has been selected as the 2008 winner of the Michael Kanin Musical Theater Award, given by the Kennedy Center ACTF. Immediately following the ACTF festival, Kooman and Dimond will receive a workshop of DANI GIRL by the Kennedy Center’s New Visions / New Voices festival, one of six new works selected from around the world.
